Cellular Revolution is a company spun out of Newcastle University, working on enabling technologies for cell based meat, specifically, bioreactors. The company is focusing on building bioreactors for continuous bioprocess — this means the bioreactor is capable of continuous production of adherent cells. The bioreactors have built in quality assurance automated system to monitor the oxygen, PH levels, and cell health and specific technology to address medium recycling and toxin disposal. Additionally, the company is working on a peptide solution that a cell based meat company could add to their existing media formulation. The purpose of this peptide is to coat the surface of the cells to enhance adherent qualities.
